The role of the port in LNG bunkering
The role of a port with respect to clean marine fuels is often seen as threefold:
- To facilitate infrastructure for existing and new clean marine fuels.
- To minimize risks when bunkering those fuels.
- To stimulate the use of cleaner fuels by providing incentives.

IAPH Working Group on LNG fuelled vessels
The International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) recognized the need for information, guidance and harmonization of safety arrangements on LNG bunkering operations in ports as early as 2011 and initiated international cooperation by setting up a working group on LNG fuelled vessels.
